Former U.S. Colonel Douglas Macgregor expresses the view that Russia has likely already issued an indirect warning to Israel regarding the potential use of nuclear weapons. According to this assessment, Moscow may have made clear that a nuclear strike by Israel against countries such as Iran would trigger a corresponding response. At the same time, the situation in the Middle East is described as the starting point of a broader conflict that could involve not only regional actors but also major powers. In this context, it is emphasized that current tensions do not point toward de-escalation, but rather toward an expansion of the war.
At the same time, Iran is portrayed as a militarily and strategically influential actor capable of causing significant global economic consequences, particularly through attacks on oil infrastructure in the Gulf states. Such actions could severely disrupt energy and water supplies in the region and potentially trigger a global economic crisis with serious humanitarian consequences. The political leadership of the United States is described as insufficiently informed in this context, while attempts to present the conflict as controllable are seen as misleading.
In addition, reference is made to Israel’s alleged nuclear strategy, particularly the so-called “Samson Option,” which envisages massive nuclear retaliation in the event of an existential threat. According to estimates, Israel possesses a significant nuclear arsenal. Overall, the situation is depicted as an escalating conflict with a high risk of a large-scale war, in which the use of nuclear weapons and far-reaching global consequences cannot be ruled out.
