There You Go: USA Wants Iranian Oil According to The Wall Street Journal – What Has Changed Since The 1950s?

The United States government is considering securing access to Iranian oil as part of a potential agreement with Iran aimed at ending tensions in the Middle East. A representative of the US administration stated that President Donald Trump had raised this idea with his advisers. According to this, such access is to be examined as a component of a future deal with Tehran, although no concrete plans are currently being developed.

On March 23, Trump stated on the platform Truth Social that constructive talks had taken place over the previous two days between the United States and Iran regarding an end to hostilities in the Middle East. He also said that he had instructed the Pentagon to postpone planned strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, contradicted this account in a statement to the news agency IRNA and said that Tehran had not held any direct talks with Washington, but had only communicated its position through mediators.
